Avon Co-operative Development Agency are a small team of staff and consultants promoting co-operative business options and providing advice and support for both new start and existing co-operatives. The CDA is an integral part of BRAVE Enterprise Agency and receives funding in part from Bristol City Council to provide a number of free services including advice sessions, training and consultancy.
In recent years there has been increasing interest in co-operative enterprise. A co-operative is a business owned and controlled by its members who own the wealth of the business together, not as individuals.
Using European ERDF funds, Avon CDA is currently planning to run a feasibility study into succession through employee ownership. We are offering this as a free service to two businesses whose owners are looking to sell up for whatever reason, and which are suitable for employee ownership. See below for suitability
In deciding whether the business is suitable for employee ownership transfer the following points need to be considered.
Strange though it may seem it is the best bosses whose businesses are most suitable for employee buyouts because they’ve been able to train, delegate and motivate effectively.
If you are part of a business that could benefit from succession please contact Avon CDA to discuss an initial assessment. After initial assessment, Avon CDA will be choosing two businesses to receive the feasibility study consultancy for free (value £2000).
